Basic Maintenance
Our most basic maintenance includes timing and a basic cleaning of most machines. Lint, dust, some caked on oil, and the like are all things that can gum up your machine over time. So, in addition to timing your machine so it maintains its stitches, we also clean the parts that make sure that timing isn't interrupted.
NOTE - There is a minimum $40 charge for work on any machine unless otherwise specified by the mechanic. Quotes are free, but any work performed on a machine is chargeable.

In-depth Maintenance and Repair
Sometimes there's a little more needed in a machine than just a little TLC. Our in-depth maintenance and repair would include, but not be limited to, a deeper clean and any repairs that are needed. This usually includes the disassembly of some part of the machine to have a deeper clean or a part repaired. Or, say, you have a machine from the early 1900's that has been in an attic for several years. While we might not be able to restore the machine to like-new condition of when it was built, we can take the machine apart and clean the interior to within new working order. For someone who can restore to like-new looks, contact Mumford Restoration, and they will be more than happy to help.
Installation
In general, the only machines you need to worry about installation with are industrial machines. They often come in boxes half-, or not-assembled at all as far as table setups go. The machines themselves may also have been knocked out of timing during transport. Our installation fee includes setting up the sewing table, as well as a basic maintenance on the machine. The price of said installation will depend greatly on the complexity of the machine, as well as how thorough the shipping company was to set up the table before shipping.
On-site Training
We normally offer a class called The Care and Feeding of Sewing Machines, but we have started offering a lighter version to include with site-visits that would cover most of the basics and any special topics (timing, use of stitches, etc.) so you might be able to make adjustments yourself and call us for emergencies. The training on a service call starts out at an additional $50 charge. If the training takes longer than the service call, or if the training goes much farther in depth, then the price would likely go up, but that can be discussed at the time of service.
Trip Charges
Since we are located near downtown Raleigh, NC, we tend to service machines nearby. However, we are willing to travel within the borders of North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina as long as you are willing to pay for our travel. Contact us if you are interested in discussing travelling to your location to fix a machine.
With the rise in gas prices, all trips now have a minimum $25 charge, with rising charges based on distance and time traveled.

Limited Warranty:
We offer follow-up services for anything that may have gone wrong during our initial work. Up to one work-week for industrial machines or domestic machines used in commercial settings, and 14-days for home/domestic sewing machines. We'll come back out and give it a tune up up to what was covered during the initial scope of the work. Past that time period, a minimum charge of $40 up to a full work-order will be accrued due at the time of service. This warranty only covers what may have gone wrong with the initial scope of work, and does not cover any new or separate issues at the discretion of the mechanic. Any warranty trips will include a trip charge.
PLEASE NOTE - Updates to services and warranties.
We have had a more lenient stance in the past for warrantied work, but a few too many people have abused our services. Please be aware that we will discount our work based on the services rendered at the discretion of the mechanic, and all non-corporate customers payments are expected at time of service, unless otherwise agreed to ahead of time.
